The Mt. Morris Township Police K9 Unit started in 1994 and is one of the longest running

programs in the county.  Since it's inception, we have had two dogs receive national recognition in

performance of their duties. We currently have three handlers and dogs on various shifts, 24 hours a day.

All three dogs are trained in narcotics detection, handler protection and human

tracking and apprehension and both must pass a basic academy and undergo annual

certifications to maintain the highest level of proficiency.

All three handlers are responsible for the dogs care on and off duty and form a close

bond not only during the course of their duties, but also with the handlers family as well.  Our agency

realizes the value of this program and most of the operating costs are typically covered with

monies forfeited from drug arrests. We always welcome and greatly appreciate any financial donation you wish

to make to keep the program running strong.
